Heather Alexander, M.A.C.P, Registered Psychologist

Hi, I'm Heather. I am a Registered Psychologist who is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families feel more connected, understood, and supported. I strive to create a safe, collaborative space where clients can explore challenges with curiosity and without judgment while building healthier patterns and deeper emotional connection in their relationships and within themselves.

More About Heather:

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Calgary and completed my Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology while working as a Behaviour Consultant supporting families and neurodiverse children.

I completed my provisional hours at the Calgary Counselling Centre, where I provided therapy to individuals and couples navigating a wide range of mental health concerns.

My work is grounded in a compassionate, attachment-based, and trauma-informed approach. I have completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrate evidence-based practices to support healing, emotional regulation, and lasting change. I am particularly passionate about family work, incorporating Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) principles to help couples and families strengthen connection, communication, and emotional safety.

I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you on your journey toward greater connection, healing, and well-being.

Fun Facts:

  • I am a former Doberman enthusiast who used to attend dog shows.  Now I share life with Snoopy, a cockapoo whose primary talents include being adorable and lowering expectations.
  • As a teenager, I worked construction jobs in the summers working for my family's construction company. I hated every minute of it, and then went on to build my own house as an adult and I still calculate roof estimates in my head when I see a house needing new shingles.
  • I treat IKEA instructions like movie spoilers - best avoided unless absolutely necessary (this strategy is terrible, and I highly recommend following instructions the first time).
  • I have a remarkable ability to spot potential in both people and houses, and enjoy helping both become the best version of themselves.
  • In the winter months, I am often driving from rink to rink cheering on my hockey-loving teenagers.
  • My curiosity doesn't end when the workday does, I love learning about everything from psychology, human behaviour, parenting, and the science behind everyday life.
